Team sports are wonderful for teaching kids about cooperation, selflessness, and putting the group’s needs before your own. Unfortunately, we sports parents sometimes need to learn those lessons more than our kids do! Game day gifts should be thoughtful, personal expressions of encouragement. They don’t need to cost a fortune or take hours to create. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite reasonable rally gifts that your students can make themselves to give to the players before game day.
This adorable I’m Rooting for You gift from Life, Design, Craft was originally made as a gift for her husband’s first day at his new job, but it would make an equally perfect gift to give to a football player before a big game. Maybe downsize the “cake” into a 20 ounce bottle before adding the printable tag.
You can add some treats around the bottle for an even more impressive gift, like this one from Simply J Studio. Swap out the soft drink for Gatorade and the candy for granola bars for a slightly healthier gift.
Sometimes a bag filled with tasty treats is all you need to give as a thoughtful gift. This post from Smith Stories offers plenty of punny suggestions to add to the gift tag.
Instead of relying on a punny tag, customize the treat bags by adding items in school colors! This team color treat bag from Jill’s Creative Endeavors features orange and blue, but you can swap those foods for snacks in your team’s colors.
Package up homemade snack mix in a mason jar painted to look like a football! This would be a great team togetherness activity for a cheer squad. Some of the squad can work on the mix while others work on the jars. When you are all finished you have made a sweet, personal gift AND you had a lot of fun! It Happens in a Blink shows you how.
Alternatively, you can wrap the treat itself up to look like a football. Construction paper, scissors, glue and this tutorial from Design, Dining and Diapers are all you need to turn candy bars in to cute footballs.
Lastly, this project doesn’t have a tutorial, but it was too funny not to include. Add a “Don’t Sweat the Big Game” to travel size deodorants for a hilarious, and practical, rally gift!
